I’ve had issues with cheap spikets. Every few years they start leaking and are damaged internally with my hard water. This system will help me forever avoid those issues. With limited plumbing experience I was able to swap out both easily. I used a 1/2 inch clamp to secure the pex tube to the 1/2 pex connection. Love it so far!
Good Retractable Hose Reel easy to move from one to another location, need to add another hanging pice instead buying another set
* The return spring is very strong, which is really great for reeling the hose in for almost any situation, including pulling through thick grass, but the downside is that it requires the same amount of force to pull it out. It's just the right amount in my opinion, and stronger than a few others I have tried.
* The hose quality is acceptable.
* The hose length is generous
* The flow is what you'd expect from a small diameter 82' hose fed by a 1/2" fitting (an Aquor hydrant, no less), which is to say not much. But acceptable for sprinkling and light spraying.
* Installation could not be easier. Like a 5 minute job if you are being picky.
* The reel lock and unlock work exceptionally well. Especially after some practice. It pretty much does what you expect and reliably.
* My only complaint is the hose thread fitting at the end. I cannot imagine any product manager or engineer finding it acceptable. A super thin hex right against the threads is all you get. And the hose itself I suppose, for gripping it to thread on a sprinkler, sprayer, etc. The ergonomics of this is kinda crappy.
I love how solid this mounting block is, with matching finish for my matte black hydrant. Cedar shingles will be installed against the block.
One way the product could be improved is with counter sunk holes and flat head screws. The included screws protrude significantly. This would make the job for my siding contractor a bit easier.
