Case Study: Lexar Homes Goes Frost-Free with Aquor
Lexar Homes, a custom home builder with properties in Washington, Idaho, and northern Oregon, wanted to ensure their builds could withstand freezing temperatures.
Burst pipes are a common result of improper winterization, as well as hose bibs that can’t stand up to winter weather. With Aquor’s frost-free House Hydrants, homeowners don’t need to winterize. The marine-grade stainless steel outdoor faucets drain upon disconnection—easy, automatic winterization in mere seconds. The Hydrants shut off well inside the home’s heated interior, so those pipes are protected. No burst pipes means no costly damage due to flooding.
In one instance a couple of years ago, standard hose bibs were installed on a Lexar build in Manzanita, Oregon. A huge ice storm hit the area, and temperatures remained below freezing for several days. The homeowners came down from Seattle to their vacation home in Manzanita and found that the sheetrock was soaking wet. Water had been running out onto the garage slab. Luckily, Lexar had installed a leak detection system that turned the home’s water supply off after detecting the major leak. The aftermath could have been much worse, but Aquor prevents burst pipes entirely. “So basically, the only home that hasn’t gotten an Aquor on it the past five years just happened to have a hose bib that failed and burst on a client. None of the other homes installed with Aquor had any issues. So that’s the testimony to the story of Aquor,” says Tim Ahaus, Managing Partner of Lexar Homes.
Lexar’s builds in areas that receive several feet of snow and experience freezing temperatures throughout the winter have had zero issues with Aquor’s Hydrants.

In addition to the Hydrant’s dependable performance, Tim notes that homeowners LOVE the way it looks. Superior performance and aesthetic—sounds like a win win!
